capturing your family's story

everything you need to know about a shoot with me

Every family is different and that’s exactly what I love about what I do. Your session is all about you — your story, your connections, and the little moments that make your family unique.

Before your photoshoot, we’ll have a relaxed chat (either over the phone or video call) so I can get to know you a bit better. I’ll ask about your family, the personalities of your little ones, and the kind of photos you’re hoping for — whether that’s playful outdoor adventures or capturing a special milestone or moment. This helps me plan a session that feels natural and truly you.

On the day, there’s no pressure to pose or perform. We’ll keep things relaxed and fun — exploring, playing games, and letting those genuine smiles and moments unfold naturally. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but mostly I’ll capture your family just as you are.

My goal is for you to enjoy the experience as much as the photos themselves — to take a little pause from the busyness of life, connect as a family, and create beautiful memories you’ll treasure for years to come.

FAQ

How do I book a photoshoot

You can book a photoshoot with me by getting in touch using the form on the Contact page, or by emailing me directly at chloeinghamphotography@hotmail.com. I'll arrange a call with you to find out a bit more about your family, the kind of photos you're hoping for and we'll plan the session together.

Where do outdoor photoshoots take place

Outdoor photoshoots can take place pretty much anywhere you like! It helps if the location means something to you and your family - maybe a favourite woodland walk, or a local park. For seasonal mini shoots I can suggest suitable locations, from stunning sunflower fields, to Christmas tree farms. One of my favourite things to do is scout for new locations so I have plenty of ideas up my sleeve!

What happens if it's raining on the day of my photoshoot

I'll be keeping an eye on the forecast a few days before your photoshoot. If there's any indication that the weather may not cooperate - whether it's rain, strong winds or a storm - I'll reach out to you in advance and we can discuss options. We may be able to rearrange the shoot for a different time the same day, or if necessary we can find an alternative date for your photoshoot.

How do newborn photoshoots work

Newborn shoots usually take place in your own home and are completely baby-led. We build in extra time to allow for nappy changes and feeds so you and your baby can feel relaxed and comfortable. We'll use natural light, so big windows and bright rooms are ideal for capturing your little one. My baby shoots focus on capturing authentic moments, so I don't use a lot of props, but cosy blankets and a favourite teddy bear are always a nice touch. The best time for traditional newborn photos is typically between 5 and 14 days old, however they can be taken anytime that suits you. Photoshoots with older newborns can be a great opportunity to capture milestones like first smiles, which may happen around 6 weeks.

What should I wear on a photoshoot

It's important to wear something that you're comfortable in and allows you to move freely, particularly for younger children. I'd advise avoiding any really bright colours, logos or strong patterns as these can distract from the emotion in your images. It also helps if the colours worn by different family members compliment each other too. I can provide styling tips, if helpful, during our discovery call.

When should I book a maternity shoot

Maternity shoots generally work best around 28 - 34 weeks when your bump has a beautiful round shape but you can still move around comfortably. However everyone is different and no two pregnancies are the same, so we will be guided by you and baby on the timings and can arrange an earlier shoot if that's preferable.

What happens on a family photoshoot

Your session is all about you, so before your photoshoot we'll have a relaxed chat to plan the session according to your little ones' personalities, how you like to spend your time and what makes your family unique. Whatever type of session we have planned, I will generally start with a walk, chatting and getting to know each other to help everyone relax. We usually play some games to get the kids engaged and I'll be snapping away throughout, capturing your family connecting and having fun, and will gently guide you when needed. When everyone is relaxed and happy we'll slow things down a little and I'll capture the more tender moments, such as hugs and tickles on the picnic blanket.
